The weight of thought is heavy,
It drags me ever down,
And hold me fast to the ground,
A reluctant captive, but,
If I could let go of thought,
Then perhaps I might learn to fly,
Ascend from the barren muddy earth,
And float away in beautiful dreams,
Far above and far away,
From cares and all the dross below,
Timeless then, and free at last,
I’d cast off my leaden life,
And be as light as a feather.
