I talked to the asparagus,
And screamed at some fungus
I shouted at the beetroot,
And pleaded with the grapefruit.
I whispered to the potatoes,
And confided in the tomatoes,
I ranted at some garden peas,
And conversed with some cabbage leaves.
But the veg and the fruit did not reply,
And now I think I know just why,
They wouldn’t listen you see to me,
For I was eating them for tea.
