Bisphosponate is the name of a range of drugs used to ameliorate the effects of bone thinning that is one of the side effects of hormone therapy for prostate cancer.
The bisphosponate tablet that I am prescribed is called Alendronic Acid. I take one Bisphosponate tablet once a week.
Other bisphosponate drugs include: Clodronate (Bonefos®, Loron®), Ibandronic acid (Bondronat®), Pamidronate (Aredia®) and Zoledronic acid (Zometa®).
