Have just returned from my scans (an MRI and Bone scan) at the Royal Free. Quite uneventful – a lot of hanging around which is surprisingly tiring. The MRI was very noisy! I was aware from reading that the MRI would be noisy but what I wasn’t prepared for was all the different clangs, bangs, whizzes, whirrs and clicks that the machine made – it sounded like some industrial process! In contrast the bone scan was silent. Not sure when the results will be available, possibly not for a fortnight.
I was a bit disappointed with the bone scan – they inject you with a radioactive liquid and I though I might some superpowers – you know, fly, leap tall buildings, that kind of thing – but all I got was a sore arm! I’m thinking of complaining.
It seems like I have got to know my way around the Royal Free quickly – its strange to think that I’ve had more contact with the medical system in the past month than I have had in my whole life.
(please add your comments – I would love to hear from family, friends and anyone with experience of dealing with prostate cancer)
